2007 Presentation Schedule
February 9-11 - Zev recently facilitated a three-day design competition, along with senior housing architect Bill Brummett, for the University of Wisconsin, Milwaukee, School of Architecture. The competition focused on creating villages for seniors with criteria including: accessibility, environmental sustainability, shared common spaces, and "aging in community."
February 25 - Neshama will give a presentation on "The Village it Takes to Raise a Child" for the Fresno Cohousing Community in Fresno, CA on Sunday, Feb. 25.
May 31 - Zev and Neshama will lead a discussion about creating intentional active adult communities at the National Association of Home Builders annual convention, "Building for Boomers and Beyond" in Denver, CO. The panel will also include developers Chuck Perry of the award-winning New Urbanist neighborhood Highlands Garden Village and Jim Leach of Wonderland Hill Development Company.
Zev Paiss and Neshama Abraham gave the following presentations on Elder Cohousing throughout Summer and Fall, 2006.
Oct. 18-20 - Urban Land Institute Fall Meeting - Denver, CO. Neshama hosted a tour of Hearthstone Cohousing located within the award-winning New Urbanist neighborhood Highland Garden's Village on Oct. 20.
Sept. 19-22 - Minnesota Health and Housing Alliance Annual Meeting - Brainard, MN. Zev spoke on Thursday, September 21.
Sept. 14-17 - We hosted the fifth Elder Cohousing Getting Started Workshop at the Nomad Cohousing Community in Boulder, CO.
Aug. 2-4 - Pioneer Network Conference - Philadelphia, PA. Zev and Neshama gave three separate talks about Elder Cohousing during this annual conference. On August 3, Neshama presented with ElderSpirit Community developer and resident Dene Peterson, and Zev presented with Dr. William Thomas, founder of the Eden Alternative nursing home model.
July 28 - Center for Creative Retirement - Ashville, NC. Zev and Neshama were panel members during a day-long workshop on "Creating Intentional Communities for the Second Half of Life".
July 21-23 - National Cohousing Conference - Chapel Hill, NC. Zev and Neshama led a half-day workshop on the Cohousing Development Process on Friday, July 21. They also gave a training on Cohousing Marketing and Membership Building on Sunday, July 23
