Common Facilities

Consistent with its design roots in both North American and European cohousing, OlaBrisa has extensive common facilities.

These common facilities include the pool area, which includes Rudi’s bar, the main pool/ lap pool, the warm water exercise pool, hot tub, a children’s pool area, plus a pool house with bathrooms and showers.

Next to the pool area is the common house, which is designed to include buffet cooking restaurant facilities along with breakout space for conferences and workshops, as well as house concerts.  The common house includes space for a small clinic / exam room as well as a check-in area for workshop participants.

The common house will also include a media room which provides space for evening HDTV movie showings, etc.

The common areas include several palapa gathering spaces which will be used for conference breakouts, for yoga, tai chi, chi gong, and meditation sessions, as well as for dancing and other events in the evenings, such as outdoor movies.

OlaBrisa will be highly networked, with ethernet connections to each residence, to the common house, and to the gathering areas for high speed internet access.

The extensive landscaping has been designed with the assistance of Gabriel Howearth, the founder of Seeds of Change, and has been planned to consist largely of edible and medicinal plants, including a number of rare and endangered plant species.  These plantings will be part of our effort to assist Gabriel in his work to preserve and protect biodiversity.
